Favourites: Morzine’s new Pléney summit webcam looks amazing on your Windows desktop

I’m a big fan of Morzine and Avoriaz. They may not be the highest French ski resorts, but they both have real character that I find myself thinking about most weeks of the year – and before I started work on Be There, my daydreams of the Portes du Soleil fuelled my desire to get resort webcams onto my Windows desktop as a live wallpaper.

Avoriaz has a curious 60s wooden techno-futurist vibe that I love, and is very much a ski resort; Morzine, by contrast, is more the traditional alpine town. Pléney is the main gondola that serves Morzine’s slopes from the centre and until a year or so ago (as I write this in 2026) it had an awful webcam that made the scene look dismal. But it now has a very nice Skaping camera running 24h a day. It has great sensitivity and colour at night and some pretty illumination in the covered magic carpet tubes.

In Be There, panoramic cameras like this serve particularly well as your desktop wallpaper if you have a side-by-side multiscreen setup or a very wide monitor. If you’re on Windows and don’t have Be There yet, it’s free to use, and even the full version costs less than a few coffees a year. You can download it here.
