Favourites: The Remarkables (NZ) webcam view – on your desktop of course!

This view is from Queenstown, NZ, looking South across the bay at the Remarkables range, with Kelvin Heights in the foreground.

Why is this in the Favourites list, and where are all the NZ webcams that actually show the slopes?

New Zealand carries a certain fascination for me because it offers real snowboarding possibilities in July and August. Of course, for a European, it’s a long way to go – even Chile and Argentina are substantially quicker to get to. For me, these are purely theoretical possibilities though – I’ve never been South of the equator. Nevertheless, I find it reassuring to have snowy mountain views on my desktop over the British Summer. This webcam view doesn’t give me the actual slopes on my desktop, but on the other hand it’s a very striking view, and Roundshot create a higher quality of webcam than any of the NZ slope cams that I’ve found so far.

I’d like to try to onboard some webcams on the NZ resort slopes into Be There – indeed any resort cams from the Southern hemisphere. None that I’ve seen so far are up to this kind of quality, and most seem to run part time (so the image is mostly static when you’re awake in Europe), but please feel free to submit your favourites.
