For me, Avoriaz is a real “wish I was there” location. The resort has several nice cams including a great central panoramic camera. But as a wallpaper cam, my favourite is the long lens view from the Antarès building that shows Avoriaz as a crazy castle on a cliff, with Morzine peeking out from the valley. The low aspect ratio and moderate resolution means you might prefer it for a single-monitor setup – although I confess I use it with two screens even though you have to choose whether to lose sky, mountains or ground. The sunset views can be spectacular, and in the ski season, if you can’t see Morzine, it’s often because a fabulous cloud inversion has drifted in, turning Avoriaz into a castle in the clouds.
To set up the Avoriaz Long Lens view as your wallpaper cam, search for “Avoriaz” or “Long Lens” on the Be There settings screen. If you run Windows and you haven’t got Be There yet, it’s here.
